NACSM STUDENT RESEARCH AWARDS

The purpose of this program is to encourage students to get involved in conducting and presenting research. The awards are presented as a means to foster interest and to reward excellence. Prizes are awarded by reimbursing winners for the any expenditure up to the allotted amount for participation in or preparation for any Northland ACSM or ACSM activity, including attending conferences, membership, or certification.

AWARDS FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCH*

This category is designed for an undergraduate student's initial research efforts and is aimed at projects where data has been collected and analyzed. Work completed, in progress, or proposals that is submiitted for the Spring Tutorial Meeting Student Research Poster Session is automatically evaluated for the awards in this category. All abstracts of completed work that are submitted from current chapter members, that are received by the deadline for presentation, and that follow the listed Rules for Abstracts and Presentations are eligible for to receive an award. (Planned research may be submitted for presentation and discussion, but will not typically be competitive for receiving an award.) Eligibility: must be a current NACSM Student Member at time of submission.

1st Place -  $500     2nd Place - $250       3rd Place - $125     4th Place - $100      5th Place - $75


AWARDS FOR GRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCH*

This category is designed for any research effort undertaken while enrolled in a masters or doctoral program. Work completed, in progress, or proposals that is submiitted for the Spring Tutorial Meeting Student Research Poster Session is automatically evaluated for the awards in this category. All abstracts of completed work that are submitted from current chapter members, that are received by the deadline for presentation, and that follow the listed Rules for Abstracts and Presentations are eligible for to receive an award. (Planned research may be submitted for presentation and discussion, but will not typically be competitive for receiving an award.) Eligibility: must be a current NACSM Student Member at time of submission.

 *the Northland Chapter reserves the right to alter the number of awards presented dependent on the number of and quality of abstracts submitted in a given year in a given category.


ELIGIBILITY FOR AWARDS

You must be a current Northland ACSM Graduate or Undergraduate Student Member at the time of submission to be eligible for these awards. Your abstract must follow the rules for submission listed by the chapter on its website. You can check your membership status or join the chapter. Your abstract must be sponsored by a current NACSM Professional Member. If you wish to submit and there is not a current NACSM Professional member on the faculty of your institution, you should contact the NACSM office for help in obtaining a professional sponsor.
