Northland Chapter Executive Board Member
Duties and Responsibilities
The
Northland Chapter executive board is comprised of elected officers who are
dedicated to the advancement of sports medicine and exercise science in the
Northland region. Executive board members are expected to maintain a current
membership with the Northland Chapter ACSM and regularly attend board meetings
at the annual spring and fall meetings. Membership in and attendance at
national ACSM meetings is encouraged. The following is a description of the
general duties and responsibilities associated with board positions.
Executive Director
- Oversees all aspects of the Northland Chapter ACSM to include serving as an information resource and liason to all executive board officers.
- Maintains the Chapter webpage, manages
Chapter membership records and budgetary items, and oversees registration
at Chapter meetings.
President Elect
- Appoints a planning
committee for and oversees the planning and organization of the annual
fall meeting.
- Chairs the executive board meeting at the
annual spring tutorial meeting.
President
- Chairs the executive board and Chapter business meetings at the
annual fall meeting.
- Appoints a
committee to nominate candidates
to be placed on the ballot to elect executive board officers.
Past President
- Appoints a planning
committee for and oversees the planning and organization of the annual
spring tutorial meeting.
- Passes the gavel to the incoming president.
Regional Chapters Rep
- Represents the Northland Chapter at the
Regional Chapter's meeting held at the annual national ACSM meeting.
- Provides regular reports to the executive
board on national ACSM Regional Chapter's meetings.
Minnesota,
North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota, and At-Large State Representatives
o
Represents the interests of professional members in
the respective geographical areas of the Northland Chapter.
o
Provides leadership for Chapter members with the aim
to promote the advancement of sports medicine and exercise science in a given geographical area-
o
Communicates regional information to and solicits
input from the membership. Development of a regionallistserve
is recommended as a cost
effective method to establish regular communication with the membership.
o
Organizes lecture tours for the state or region.
o
Periodically hosts fall meetings in the state or
region.
Student Rep to ACSM
o
Represents
the interests of undergraduate and graduate students in the Northland Chapter
ACSM.
o
Provides
leadership with the aim to promote the advancement of sports medicine and
exercise science for the student population of the Northland Chapter.
o
Communicates
regional information to and solicits input from student members. Development of
a student listserve is recommended as a cost
effective method to establish regular communication with student members.
Chair, Strategic Planning Committee
o
Establishes a committee
to periodically review the goals and objectives of the Chapter's Strategic Plan.
o
Works with executive board members and the
membership to accomplish goals and objectives stated in the Chapter's Strategic
Plan.
o
Provides regular reports to the executive board on
progress made toward accomplishing goals and objectives.
Newsletter Editor
o
Writes, edits, and solicits information for articles
to be published in the Northland Chapter newsletter.
